(Kampala) – The Darfur Network for Human Rights (DNHR) has received reports of clashes today between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the Abu Shouk camp in Al Fasher. This violence has forced internally displaced persons (IDPs) to flee towards the city centre, where over twenty individuals have been reported wounded.

Eyewitnesses informed DNHR that RSF forces are looting and committing killings inside the homes of defenceless citizens, particularly targeting IDPs in the Abu Shouk camp and other neighbourhoods of Al Fasher. One resident confirmed to DNHR that there are fatalities and injuries in nearly every household.
Additionally, numerous civilians have perished due to delays in medical assistance, as the scarcity of ambulances and overwhelmed hospitals have hindered timely access to care for the wounded.

DNHR urgently appeals to both conflicting parties to cease targeting civilians immediately. We also call upon the international community to intervene promptly to prevent further catastrophe in Al Fasher. Humanitarian assistance is desperately needed at this critical juncture.
