In the Spirit of the Great Freedom Fighter Nelson Mandela:

The Darfur Network for Human Rights, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Nelson Mandela, reaffirms that human rights are universal, inalienable, indivisible, interdependent, and interrelated. This declaration emphasizes the core belief that every human being, irrespective of their background, is entitled to these rights, which cannot be taken away or separated.

DNHR is unwavering in its commitment to protecting and advocating for these rights, following Mandela’s path of justice, equality, and steadfast dedication to human dignity.

  • Universal: Because everyone is born with and possesses the same rights, regardless of where they live in the world, their gender, race, or their religious, cultural, or ethnic background.
  • Inalienable: Because people’s rights can never be taken away.
  • Indivisible and Interdependent: Because all rights—political, civil, social, cultural, and economic—are equal in importance, and none can be fully enjoyed without the others.

These rights apply to all equally, including the people in the Darfur region, who have the right to participate in decisions that affect their lives, particularly the urgent need to stop the RSF and SAF’s selfish war. They are upheld by the rule of law and strengthened through legitimate claims that hold duty-bearers accountable to international standards.

This is why we must stand together for justice and, in solidarity with the Sudanese, build a Sudan free from human rights violations—now more than ever.
