On October 20, 2024, Rapid Support Forces (RSF)-affiliated Janjaweed militia attacked a tuk-tuk driver near the checkpoint of Fuguwa Dakuwa, about 9 kilometers east of Nierteti locality Center Darfur, according to the report.

 The attack occurred at 6:00 PM after the driver refused to pay the demanded amount. The driver, Noor Eldin Hassan Haroun (25 years old, a member of the Fur tribe from Goz Beida neighborhood in Nierteti), and a passenger, Salwa Omar Al-Haj Ahmed (40 years old, also from the Fur tribe in Fuguwa Dakuwa), were severely injured.

 Noor was hit with the butt of a weapon, causing critical injuries, and Salwa suffered a broken rib and tooth. Although the incident was reported to the unified police in Nierteti, the RSF, with militias, initially blocked the victims’ transfer to the hospital.

 After public outcry, they could finally receive medical attention at Nierteti Hospital. The gate officer, identified as Abkar Osman from the Naib tribe, and the RSF commander, Ahmed Andala, are mentioned as key figures in controlling the area.

On lat Saturday, October 11, 2024, at 5:00 PM, a tragic incident occurred in the Darfur region. A young girl, aged 18, from the Fur tribe and a resident of the village of Rokwa in the Nierteti area, was brutally attacked. While fetching water with a companion from Wadi Rokwa, she was assaulted by two men. When Marah resisted their attempted rape, they shot her, causing severe injuries.

 She was transferred to Zalingei Hospital, where she tragically passed away on Sunday. Marah and her companion were on their way home when they were attacked. While one girl managed to escape, and another was caught and severely injured after resisting the assault.

 The attack took place 40 kilometers north of Nierteti. A report was filed with the Saqae Police, and Marah was taken directly to Zalingei Hospital for treatment. She was later buried in the camp cemetery. This incident underscores the ongoing violence and lawlessness in the region, where women and girls are particularly vulnerable to such brutal attacks, reflecting the broader humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

 An eyewitness said that the RSF commander Ahmed Andala and the gate officer Abkar Osman, who is implicated in controlling this area, contribute to the local population’s lack of safety and protection.

This incident underscores the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Darfur under RSF control and points to deeper issues in Darfur, where RSF maintains significant control over local areas, operates with impunity and disregards the rule of law.

 The humanitarian situation in the Darfur region remains dire, with civilians bearing the brunt of violence, extortion, and restricted access to basic services such as healthcare. It’s a critical moment for the international community to intensify its focus on Darfur, as these unchecked abuses further undermine peace efforts and stability in Sudan.
