On November 21, 2024, two internally displaced persons (IDPs), Ali Yaqoub Abdullah Yahya, 20 years old, and Abdeljabar Musa Abdulsamad Ismail, residents of Hass Saqlagla in Mukjar town, Central Darfur State, were victims of an armed robbery that resulted in serious injuries. Ali sustained a head injury from a firearm and was beaten on the head with a stick. Abdeljabar was struck in the right thigh, with a bullet lodging inside. He was taken to Dr. Shawqi’s private clinic in Mukjar for treatment.
The incident occurred when the victims returned from their farmland in the Tiy Kanja area of the Mukjar locality. They were intercepted by armed men wearing Rapid Support Forces (RSF) uniforms, who stopped them at gunpoint and demanded their belongings. The victims, transporting their harvest on a donkey cart to Mukjar, explained they only had a small loudspeaker and their crops. The assailants then attacked them with firearms and sticks.
This incident marks the third such occurrence in November 2024 alone, highlighting a severe threat to civilian safety. We urge the Rapid Support Forces to fulfill their responsibility to protect civilians and call on the international community to take this matter seriously and address it urgently.
