Between September 29 and October 2, 2025, intense attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on several villages in North Darfur, including Gerne, Halla Sheikh, and Shagra , have triggered new waves of displacement toward Tawalla Camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs), located about 30 km from El Fasher.
According to eyewitness accounts, over 1,100 families have fled their homes due to indiscriminate attacks, looting, arbitrary arrests, and kidnappings carried out by RSF fighters.
Newly displaced civilians are arriving continuously at Tawalla Camp seeking safety and humanitarian assistance.

Eyewitnesses report that: Civilians fleeing toward Tawalla were stopped at RSF checkpoints, where armed personnel demanded payment of up to USD 100 per family to allow passage. Those unable to pay faced threats, physical assault, or the risk of abduction. Women, girls, and boys are particularly at risk of violence, exploitation, and kidnapping both during flight and upon arrival.
The camp is overcrowded, and humanitarian needs are increasing rapidly, particularly for Shelter, Food, and water, Medical assistance, and Protection services for women and children. Local sources confirm severe trauma among newly displaced persons and an urgent need for psychosocial support.)

- DNHR call up to:
- Immediate humanitarian assessment in Tawalla Camp to determine priority needs.
- Emergency shelter and food distribution for the newly arrived 1,100+ families.
- Protection monitoring and safe passage advocacy to prevent further extortion and violence at checkpoints.
- Coordination with local authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure aid access and security guarantees.
