The civilians remain the forebearers of an armed conflict’s unbearable consequences they never wanted or ever would have wanted in the very first place that erupted on 15 April 2023 in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In collaboration with strategic partners, titled, “SERIOUS HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS PERPETRATED IN THE CONTEXT OF MASS CIVILIAN DETENTION IN SUDAN” is a report jointly published in September 2024,
This report is an abridged version of a submission made to the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan in July 2024 and addresses one of the most prominent features of the targeting: namely the ongoing arbitrary arrest, arbitrary detention, and torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment by both sides of thousands of individuals, many of whom are civilians as part of a shadow war against civil society, human rights defenders, activists, and marginalised communities.
DNHR’s work in monitoring, documenting and reporting on human rights violations in Sudan especially in Darfur region continues with hope of helping the survivors seek justice and accountability through the regional and international justice systems and mechanisms in place. We urge the international and regional organizations and countries to put more pressure on the two parties to the armed conflict to immediately cease all armed hostilities without delay and NOW.
