At Least Two Civilians Killed by Rapid Support Forces in South Nertiti.

Two civilians were shot dead by members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Saturday, 26 April 2025, in the Jananiya area, approximately 14 kilometres south of Nertiti City, Central Darfur.

According to local sources, the incident occurred at around 9:00 AM while the victims were engaged in their daily work activities. Eyewitness accounts suggest the civilians were directly targeted, with no indication of armed confrontation or any immediate threat present at the time.

The victims have been identified as:

  • Ahmed Mahmoud Haroun Mohammed, aged 35, a member of the Fur tribe and a resident of Kafouri neighbourhood in Nertiti City. He was reportedly killed while riding his bicycle to his place of work in the charcoal trade.
  • Adel Haroun Issa Ibrahim, aged 28, also of the Fur tribe, from Qouz Bayda. He was reportedly killed while cutting trees for charcoal production.

Following the incident:

  • An official report was filed at the Unified Police Station in Nertiti City.
  • The victims’ bodies were transferred to Nertiti Hospital where death was formally confirmed.
  • The bodies were subsequently handed over to their families, and burial ceremonies were conducted at Kambi Sharqi Cemetery.

This incident comes amid growing concerns over the escalation of violence against civilians across Darfur. Human rights observers have called for an urgent, independent investigation into the killing, stressing the need for accountability and better protection of civilians in line with international humanitarian law.
