Al-Geneina DNHR

On June 8, 2023, in West Darfur state, Al-Geneina, the renewed attack on civilians between 08:00 – 09:00 am by RSF and Arab militia riding around 20 motorcycles and seven land cruiser vehicles. They fired a bomb targeting the areas of Haidnasim, Haijamariq, Haidmagilis, and Haidsaura, where a bomb fell in one of the family’s compounds resulting in the deaths of two and wounding other two others, according to an eyewitness who confirmed that the RSF and Arab militia came from two ways. That is the western direction, Jamariq, and the northern direction, Kerinding.

The situation in Al-Geneina is critical, as the medical report mentions that last Monday, June 5, 2023. Some homes were taken as temporary hospitals, in which medical services are provided in some safe neighborhoods. There are more than 2,000 wounded, most of them women and children. All hospitals and health centers in El Geneina are out of service. There is no oxygen and there is no blood bank, most births end in the loss of either the mother or the fetus, no medical or food aid can be delivered to El Geneina, internet shutdown as well as the RSF and Arab militia sieged civilians within the city as human rights violation continues and humanitarian crises worsening which has resulted into the deaths of people, with people feeding on the leaves of the trees for survival while leaving more than 100,000 sufferings.

Movement is complex within the neighborhoods due to the spread of snipers and blocked roads. The southern neighborhoods of El Geneina were separated from Ardamta, and the medical corps and the armed forces were present within its leadership only. They need help to enter the city center. Patients are transferred to the medical corps.

The scene in El Geneina is unimaginable, so we call upon the international community to protect civilians from the RSF and Arab Militia attacks.
