DNHR’s Human Rights Defender killed in Darfur.

With regret, we confirm the death of one of our Darfur Network for Human Rights monitoring and documentation field staff which occurred yesterday, Sunday, May 14, 2023, in west Darfur – El Geneina. He was killed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during an attack in the city of Al-Geneina.

Dr. Adam Zakera Isahge, aged 38 years old, was married to his wife, Mariam, with two children.

Dr. Zakera has been working with Darfur Network for Human Rights for two years, monitoring and documenting the human rights violations in west Darfur, Sudan. He has left two children and his wife.

Our deepest condolences to all his family members, especially his wife and children, friends, partners, and members at DNHR.
