The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have deliberately destroyed the headquarters of Sudanese Airlines, located on Obeid Khatim Street in Khartoum. This attack also resulted in the complete demolition of an adjacent nursery facility, endangering the lives of vulnerable civilians, including children.
This incident represents a clear escalation in the targeting of civilian infrastructure and public institutions amid the ongoing conflict. It highlights the RSF’s continued failure to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law and their commitments under the Jeddah Declaration. The destruction of a national airline’s headquarters not only cripples Sudan’s civil aviation sector but also disrupts critical civilian services and compounds the humanitarian crisis.
The Darfur Network for Human Rights (DNHR) strongly condemns the deliberate destruction of the Sudanese Airlines Headquarters and an adjacent nursery by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Obeid Khatim Street, Khartoum.
DNHR calls on all parties to the conflict to immediately cease targeting civilian infrastructure and respect the protections afforded to non-military sites. We urge the international community, including the United Nations, African Union, and regional bodies, to urgently investigate this violation and enforce accountability mechanisms to deter future atrocities.
