Shooting Incident at Khor Ramla checkpoint – West of Nertiti
On the morning of Friday, May 23, 2025, an armed incident occurred at the Khor Ramla, located 9KM west of Nertiti town in Central Darfur State in a checkpoint controlled by Sudan liberation movement, resulted in the death of a member of the Sudan Liberation Movement and the injury of a member of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
According to eyewitnesses, a four-wheel-drive vehicle carrying eight RSF personnel was on its way from Saraf Omra to Nyala the capital city of south Darfur state to participate in a new recruits’ training. Upon reaching the Khor Ramla checkpoint, a member of the Sudan Liberation Movement approached the vehicle intending to redirect it to an alternative route. However, RSF personnel immediately opened fire on him, killing him.
In response, a member of the Movement fired back at the vehicle, injuring one of the RSF members. Subsequently, forces from the Sudan Liberation Movement deployed in the area, seized the RSF vehicle, and captured five of its personnel (referred to as “prisoners”), whose names have not yet been identified. The seized vehicle was green, and the injured person was transferred to Nertiti Hospital for treatment.
Victims:
- Death: Sadiq Abdullah Ismail, from the Fur tribe, known by the nickname “Barin” – member of the Sudan Liberation Movement.
- Injured (RSF): Hasballah Mohammed Hasballah, son of Sheikh Adam Hasballah, from the Markundi area, belonging to the Mahadi tribe.

Establishment of an RSF Training Center – Komboa Jaali Project
In another field development on the same day, local sources reported the establishment of a new RSF training center in the Komboa Jaali agricultural project area, This center hosts a large number of new RSF recruits and is part of ongoing military mobilization efforts carried out by the RSF in the Darfur region. which is located:
- 19 kilometers west of Nertiti,
- 3 kilometer from the Fogo Diko area,
East of Fogo Diko, within agricultural lands used by civilians.

Local Concerns:
- Local residents fear that the use of agricultural lands for military purposes will lead to further displacement, increased security tensions, and pose a direct threat to the lives of civilians and displaced persons in the area.
- Similar training centers have previously been linked to serious violations against civilians, including killings, looting, and forced recruitment.
