North Darfur State Government Dismisses Traditional Leaders for Supporting RSF.

El-Fasher, May 29, 2025 – The Acting Governor of North Darfur State, Mr. Hafiz Bakhit Mohammed, has issued an executive decision to relieve a number of traditional leaders and tribal chiefs from their positions for collaborating with RSF and militias.

The dismissal is enacted pursuant to the 1999 North Darfur Native Administration Act and based on directives from the Ministry of Federal Governance regarding native administration figures implicated in rebel activities.

List of Dismissed Chiefs:

  1. Chief Idris Abdallah Suleiman Tamsah – Ein Basaro, Malha locality
  2. Chief Ibrahim Omar Hamid – Dar Difa, Malha locality
  3. Chief Saleh Amin Ismail Omar – Kanata, Malha locality
  4. Chief Hassan Abdallah Ali – Sili, Malha locality
  5. Chief Ahmed Saleh Jamal – Tamleeka, Malha locality
  6. Chief Ahmed Douma Abd Al-Nabi – Injro, Malha locality
  7. Chief Abkar Abdallah (Abkarai) – Towsal, Malha locality
  8. Chief Al-Mur Ahmed Suleiman – Umm Qafala, Umm Kaddada locality
  9. Chief Hassan Adam Ali – Karfal, Umm Kaddada locality
  10. Chief Salah Mohamed Sayed Abu Shouk – Umm Sidra, Umm Kaddada locality
  11. Chief Siddiq Othman Abdallah – Abu Jirah, Mellit locality

Charges and Violations:

The decision comes after the confirmation that the individuals in question have:

  • Mobilized tribal members into rebel forces
  • Incited actions aimed at toppling state institutions
  • Engaged in or facilitated widespread human rights violations, including murder, looting, rape, and the sheltering of foreign mercenaries
  • Participated in the largest displacement crisis in Sudanese history

Next Steps:

  • Subordinate tribal sheikhs are to assume interim leadership roles
  • Legal proceedings will be initiated against the dismissed chiefs
  • The decision is effective immediately and must be implemented by the relevant authorities

The Government of North Darfur reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rule of law, preserving state institutions, and ensuring accountability for all acts of rebellion and human rights abuses.
