The attack against the office of the Sudanese Bar Association by former regimes in Khartoum:

On Nov- 3, 2022 (Kampala). Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation DNMD is deeply concerned about an attack against the office of the Sudanese Bar Association (SBA) in Khartoum. On November 1 – 2, 2022, A group of lawyers loyal to the dissolved National Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday launched an attack with sticks and tear gas on the Sudanese Bar Association headquarters, in an attempt to seize, attacked the Sudanese Lawyers House in its headquarters buildings, Street 61, using sticks and pistols, they closed the doors of the house to the lawyers with locks and fired a barrage of live bullets, buildings, sound bombs, and rubber in shops to drag lawyers to violence.  The former regime returned back to the state institutions and the use of means of violence to take rights. This is a very dangerous sign. The leaders of the October 25, 2021 coup bear this responsibility. Al-Burhan and Hemet.

Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation DNMD is announcing our solidarity with the Steering Committee of the Sudanese Bar Association, the attack against the office of the SBA is a clear signal sent against ongoing efforts to reach an acceptable consensus among political forces and the military towards a genuine democratic transition in Sudan”, Earlier this year, the Sudanese Bar Association took the initiative to work on a draft constitutional framework that has been endorsed by many Sudanese actors and has served as a basis for consultations between all stakeholders.

DNMD condemns in the strongest terms this barbaric and irresponsible behavior and calls on the Public Prosecution Office to play its role in investigating and bringing the criminals to justice immediately.
