Gun attacks by Militias led to the Killing of a Farmer and his wife leaving behind an Infant child at South Darfur State.

On November7,2022 at approximately 7pm, in the Tigiris area, South Darfur Nyala State, a Farmer was killed together with his wife in their Farm, by a number of five unknown Armed group. The details of the incident as gathered by DNMD monitors is that it took place on the 7th of November,2022 an armed group attempted to Hijack the Vehicle of the farmer, during the argument, the victim farmer resisted to the attack by fighting off the assailants, in which the perpetrators responded by firing bullets on the farmer and his wife. The victims of the attack were by the names of:

  1. Adam Marjallah Swila, aged 43 years, Farmer, and a Business Man in Nyala city
  2. Hadijah Abdallah Khamis, Was approximately 40 years, wife of the victim.

Eye witnesses, confirmed Darfur Network for Monitoring and Documentation DNMD that transported the dead bodies to Nyala Police, and interacted with the Head of the station “Mohamed Ahmad Abdallah Al-Zeen” A general in Police in South Darfur Nyala. And agreed to send the authorized officers to visit the crime scene and carry necessary investigations, and promised to do what it takes to capture the perpetrators in order to face justice. Hundreds of relatives of the deceased and Citizens of Nyala city, carried peaceful demonstration from Nyala Hospital demanding justice for the victims, and demanding the perpetrators to be handed to justice, and demanding respect and protection civilians for their lives of innocent citizens.

The Omdo of Tigris, “Mohamed Ali Abdallah Nahardeen” confirmed the death of the victims by the perpetrators on the hands of the Armed group, leaving behind a year and a half infant, while the perpetrators remain apprehended, the Omdo demanded justice for the victims, protection for the Farmers, and confirmed that the unfortunate incident is a first, since the beginning of the Harvest Season. The matter was reported to Tigris Police, under Article 130 for intentional Murder. The police confirmed that it formed a special force for handling and investigating the crime, Headed by a Police Lieutenant Colonel.

This level of human right violations, and inhuman tendencies is alarming, endangering to innocent lives, attacks against defenseless civilians, such as this incident reported has been a norm, since the population largely depends on Farming for generating a living,

DNMD urges the national and international community to take into considerations the grave violations being subjected against defenseless civilians while undergoing their normal course of living.

Appeals to UN Panel of Experts on Sudan to take into account these reports in their regular review of the situation on the ground according to their mandate of monitoring violations of human rights and international humanitarian law

DNMD has been reported that most of the human rights abuse during the year was triggered by Arab militia and other armed conflict, particularly continued sporadic violence in Darfur region wrest Sudan.
